Apprenticeship Training under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961

Online applications are invited in the prescribed format for engagement of 550 Act-Apprentices for imparting training in Technical Training Centre, Rail Coach Factory (Kapurthala) under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961, for the following trades. The eligible candidates can register their applications online on the prescribed proforma on the authorized website www.rcf.indianrailways.gov.in of Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala by 09.04.2024 up to 24.00 hours. After 09.04.2024, after 24.00 hours, this link will be inactive.

Mode of Selection:

  1. Selection will be on the basis of merit list prepared of all candidates who apply against the notification. The merit list will be prepared for the purpose on the basis of percentage of marks in matriculation (with minimum 50% of aggregate marks) + ITI marks in the trade in which apprenticeship is to be done. The panel will be on the basis of simple average of marks in the matriculation and ITI. For the purpose of calculation of percentage of matriculation, marks obtained by the candidates in all subjects will be reckoned and not on the basis of marks of any subject or a group of subjects. For the purpose of calculation of percentage of ITI marks, marks mentioned in the provisional/final certificate will be reckoned.
  2. In case of two candidates having the same marks, the candidates with older age shall be preferred. In case the dates of birth are also same, then the candidate who passed matriculation exam earlier shall be considered first.
  3. A final merit list will be prepared trade-wise and community-wise, equal to the number of slots in the descending order of percentage of marks obtained by the candidate, as stated above.
  4. Candidates finally enlisted would be subject to verification of original testimonials and being found fit in appropriate medical examination. The medical certificate should be signed by Government authorized Doctors (Gaz.) not below the rank of Asstt. Surgeon of Central/State Hospital.

Recruitment Eligibility Conditions

  1. Age Criteria: Candidates must have completed 15 years of age and should not have exceeded 24 years of age as of March 31, 2024.
  2. Upper Age Limit Relaxations:
    • SC/ST candidates: 5 years
    • OBC candidates: 3 years
    • Persons with Disability: 10 years
    • Ex-servicemen: Up to additional 10 years plus length of service rendered in Defence Forces, provided a minimum of 6 months of continuous service was completed. Ex-servicemen who have already joined the Government service on the Civil side after availing the servicemen status for their engagement are also eligible.
  3. Ex-servicemen Quota: Ex-servicemen will be considered against the Ex-servicemen quota if available. If UR vacancies are unavailable, only Ex-servicemen belonging to the specific community with available vacancies will be considered against the Ex-servicemen quota.
  4. Reservation Documentation:
    • Candidates applying under SC/ST reservation must present a caste certificate issued by the appropriate authority during document verification.
    • Candidates applying under OBC reservation must produce a caste certificate and Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued by the appropriate authority.
    • Candidates applying under the Ex-servicemen and Armed Forces Personnel reservation must produce a discharge certificate. Children of Ex-servicemen and Armed Forces Personnel must produce the discharge certificate or Armed Forces serving certificate (as applicable) of their parents during document verification.

Minimum Educational Qualification:

  1. 10th Class Examination or Equivalent:

    Candidates must have passed the 10th class examination or its equivalent (under the 10+2 examination system) with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized Board.

  2. Possession of National Trade Certificate:

    Additionally, candidates must possess a National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training.

Procedure for Calculating Percentage of Marks with CGPA:

If a candidate has obtained CGPA 7.4, they will follow these steps to calculate the percentage:

Payment of Fees:

  1. Application fees (Non-refundable) of Rs.100/- is to be paid through ONLINE MODE only. RCF/Kapurthala will not accept application fees in Cash/Cheque/Money order/PO/Demand Draft, etc.
  2. Fee payment must be made online through the payment gateway as part of the online application process.
  3. After successful completion of the application form, candidates must pay the fee within 2 working days through the provided link in the form.
  4. Once the application form is filled/completed successfully, candidates are required to pay fees through the payment gateway integrated with the online application. No change/edit will be allowed thereafter.
  5. Payment can be made using debit card/credit card/Internet Banking/SBI Challan, etc. Transaction charges, if any, will be borne by the candidate.
  6. Upon successful completion of the transaction, an e-receipt with the date entered by the candidate will be generated, which should be printed and retained.

How to Apply:

  1. Candidates must apply ONLINE by visiting www.rcf.indianrailways.gov.in.
  2. Detailed instructions for filling up ONLINE applications will be available on the website.
  3. Candidates should ensure that their name, father's name, and date of birth exactly match as recorded in the Matriculation or equivalent certificate.
  4. Candidates are advised to indicate their active mobile number and valid e-mail ID in the ONLINE application and keep them active throughout the engagement process.
  5. Multiple applications with different particulars will be summarily rejected.
  6. Candidates must keep a printout of their application for future reference and production during Document Verification.

Last Date for Receipt of Application:

The ONLINE application, complete in all respects, can be submitted through the ONLINE process to RCF up to 09.04.2024 until 24.00 hours. No physical copy of the application is required to be sent to RCF.
